Pasta al pomodoro

The private code of Loro Piana’s summer

Summer, like every season, holds its own secrets; places, and experiences which define the pleasure of the moment. Some guard these jealously, others, more generously, grant little insights into this very personal moment of joy.

Loro Piana’s summer has its secrets too. One of these, a sort of private code, goes by the name of ‘pasta al pomodoro’. Probably the simplest dish in Italian cooking, to us it offers the perfect metaphor for the Loro Piana summer. The joy of an exemplary pasta with tomato sauce sums up a lifestyle based on the beauty and purity of simple things, providing they are of superlative quality and aestheticism. The ingredients of pasta al pomodoro are few, they are humble, but in order for the pasta to be delicious, they must be expertly sourced and cooked with the utmost care. A dish too designed to share – signifying the pleasure of generosity, of family, of colour, of joy.

Secrets are also to be discovered in the clothes we offer to ensure an elegant summer. Each one reveals to its wearer little surprises that make it impeccable in its simplicity. Sometimes it is the nobility of a fabric, sometimes a cleverly positioned pocket, sometimes the craft of the manufacture.

From the sublimely simple to the simply sublime.

‘Pasta al pomodoro’ is our concept of elegance under the sun.

The ‘André’ shirt is the incarnation of this: white linen, perfect proportions, an open neck with plackets borrowed from the Neapolitan sartorial tradition. We retrace its history, the intuition of a moment that has become an icon of our style. The style which Nicholas Foulkes so eloquently dissects with the ironic gaze of an Anglo-Saxon eye.

Villa Cima in Cernobbio, overlooking the enchanting Lake Como, is a secret retreat in itself. The sumptuous fabrics of Loro Piana Interiors dress the rooms of a place designed for rest and to nourish the soul. Matthieu Lavanchy’s lens captures them, sharing an intimate tour of the Villa, deeply linked to the history of Loro Piana.

Finally, the secret of a tree, humble and simple like the apple tree, which in its purest beauty is celebrated by the Japanese photographer Yoshihiko Ueda. The secret of the apple tree is the link that unites trees and trees, the Japanese apple trees and the Quarona apple trees, as ancient as the tree that captivated Ueda, majestic in the same way, a symbol of our bond with Japan, and a new chapter in a story which is still to be told.
