Sapelli mahogany wood

Exteta produces the Delight Chairs entirely by hand, and has selected Sapelli mahogany wood, the very finest of its kind, with exquisitely delicate veining. Mahogany is highly durable and perfect for outdoor settings, and indeed has a lengthy tradition of use in yacht-building. Exteta crafts the chairs in Italy, combining advanced technological solutions with the expertise of traditional cabinetry to create elegant pieces with flowing lines that are silky soft to the touch. The Delight Chairs are available both in matte mahogany and with a Mediterranean Gloss finish that pays tribute to the finest yachts, created with 11 coats of varnish. For the St. Moritz version, Exteta has developed a matte barrique finish in a dark brown shade.

Flame-retardant dehors fabric

The outdoor fabrics chosen by Loro Piana Interiors not only stand up to light, salt, chlorine, mould and fungi, but are also flame-retardant and invitingly soft to the touch. The fabrics in Trevira® combine exceptional performance with an extremely soft handfeel, and are woven on jacquard looms with double yarns of different finenesses in both the warp and weft, for a compact structure with perfectly defined stripes. Different fabrics can be combined in the same chair on seat and backrest. There are three patterns: St. Tropez is a Bengal stripe, Juan les Pins presents a narrow ticking stripe developed exclusively by Loro Piana Interiors for Exteta, and Bealieu is a wider ticking in Atlantic blue and Malachite on a natural base. The solid colour option, Garamond, has a raised diagonal weave and comes in the two shades of the stripes and the background colour.

Storm System® 3L technology

For the St. Moritz version, the Sherpas and Zelander® Merino wool fabrics are treated with our three-layer Storm System® technology, which involves applying a special membrane to the rear side of the fabric, coupled with an ultra-fine jersey. This treatment lends waterproof protection to even the finest of materials, while preserving their exquisite softness. The Rain System® finish means that water droplets simply slide off the surface, and protects the fabric from stains.

White Soles

The rubber protections under the structures of the Delight Chairs are made with the same material as the soles of the Loro Piana’s iconic shoes, which were originally designed for sailing. A quirky little detail, and a signature feature, but also a functional element which ensures the chairs and stool do not mark boat decks or any other surface.
