The project

The Delight Chairs project came about with the idea of creating a refined take on the classic director's chair: a chair usually associated with beach life and holidays, and rarely elevated to the rank of elegant design object, crafted from quality materials.

This was the challenge taken up by Loro Piana Interiors, together with Exteta and Paola Navone, which led to the creation of the Delight Chairs, named to evoke the simple pleasures of outdoor socializing. The resulting chairs are beautifully harmonious and extremely versatile, with a sleek, contemporary design. Conceived for comfort, thanks to the lightly padded seat and back, perfectly proportioned to deliver the utmost ease. Crafted entirely by hand in Sapelli mahogany wood, the range includes a folding chair, a small armchair and a stool, also foldable, that doubles up as an occasional table.

The pieces were originally created for use on board yachts – the rubber protectors on the feet, made with the same material as the soles of the Loro Piana's iconic shoes, ensure they do not mark teak decking – but they are also perfectly at home in the garden, on a roof terrace or by the pool. The summer version features upholstery in the flame-retardant outdoor fabrics created by Loro Piana Interiors. These are in solid colours or three different stripe patterns to mix and match, including on the same chair.

The St. Moritz version comes with the back and seat in Sherpas cashmere fabric or Zelander® merino wool by Loro Piana Interiors, treated with Storm System® 3L for water-repellent protection. These models can also be complemented with removable "coats" in Cashfur, Loro Piana Interiors' exclusive fur-effect fabric in cashmere and silk, which lends an extra layer of warmth and softness. Perfectly at home by a mountain chalet or on an Alpine sundeck, they combine a relaxed spirit with inviting elements designed for wintery settings.
