The thistle flower has been one of the elements in the Loro Piana crest since 1951, symbolising the brand's enduring passion for quality and craftsmanship. Dried thistle flowers are the secret behind Loro Piana’s Zibeline® finish, reserved for the finest cashmere: an irregular pattern of tiny ripples on the surface of the fabric that catch and reflect the light.
To achieve this distinctive effect, the fabric is gently brushed with thistle flowers, which are set into special metal frames by our skilled craftsmen. As these frames rotate, the curved spikes brush over the fabric, creating the unique textured look, which lends depth and vividness to the colours and accentuates the natural softness of the cashmere.
Loro Piana Interiors now pays tribute to this symbol of textile expertise and integral part of the brand’s heritage by bringing the thistle flower to bloom on fabrics for furniture and decor, and a delicate wallcovering.
The materials chosen are extremely refined, and sophisticated techniques have been used to create the thistle motif: jacquard, embroidery and printing. A natural white colourway has been chosen as a celebration of purity and nature.
