Backgammon is one of the oldest games in the world: it is thought to date as far back as the Sumerian period. Enjoyed by both the Ancient Greeks and the Romans, over the centuries it had become something of an elite pursuit and eventually, in recent years, it acquired more widespread appeal. Loro Piana presents the game of Backgammon with “My Backgammon Box”: an inlaid lime-wood box embellished with Mojau leather trim and complete with playing pieces, dice and dice cups. The game is also reproduced on a soft cashmere blanket printed with floral decorations inspired by the board used for the Venetian game of Sbaraglino, in vogue in the seventeenth century and the predecessor of the current version of Backgammon.
